At the closing concert of the Haydneum Eszterh\u00e1za Festival, two settings of Salve Regina are interwoven with both familiar and lesser-known orchestral works. The Marian hymns by Michael Haydn and Georg Albrechtsberger represent the early Classical style. Opening the concert is a symphony from 1770 by the Swiss composer Gaspard Fritz, whose music was well known in both France and England in its day, while the concluding work, Haydn\u2019s Symphony No. 78<\/em> in the Sturm und Drang style, dates from rather more than a decade later. The deservedly popular Keyboard Concerto in D major, Hob. XVIII:11 (1779) remains Haydn\u2019s only keyboard concerto still regularly performed today.
