Did you know that Handel’s former living room could easily function as an art gallery today?
Georg Friedrich Händel – or, as he was known in England, George Frederick Handel – was born in Saxony but found his true home in London. His house on Brook Street is still open to visitors today, and it is not just a music-historical landmark: within its walls, traces of a unique passion can also be discovered. Händel was not only a master of sound but also a lover of visual art. His home was adorned with around eighty paintings and sixty prints, turning it into a veritable gallery. After his death, the collection was auctioned, revealing that Händel had even owned a work by Rembrandt. The Baroque composer left a lasting mark not only in music but also in the visual arts, as if he sought timeless beauty in every form.
